Litigation is expensive, time consuming and difficult for all involved. Litigants must communicate and freely exchange information with one another if they genuinely wish to resolve their differences. Litigation does not promote these objectives, however, mediation does. Mediation leads to communication and communication leads to resolution.
Mark Susson, Esq., is a successful personal injury litigation attorney, who is now available as a Mediator and Arbitrator throughout California and Nevada. As a litigator for nearly 30 years, he has mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Susson has been described as a skilled negotiator, an experienced litigator and a true “people person” with tremendous personal skills, all of which make him a born Mediator.
Mr. Susson is well versed in multiple areas of litigation and is a skilled and creative negotiator whose insight, humor and people skills make him one of the rare few who can consider themselves natural Mediators. He has extensive experience in negotiating with insurance carriers involving a variety of issues, including subrogation, an area in which he is a frequent lecturer.
Mr. Susson received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, in 1976, and earned his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1979. His continuing education has included attendance at the Strauss Institute of Dispute Resolution, Advanced Mediation Course, sponsored by the Strauss Institute of Dispute and held at the Vermont School of Law.
Mr. Susson is a Board Member of the Orange County Jewish Community Center and also serves as the National Chairman of the U.S. Maccabiah Volleyball team. He enjoys spending time with Dana his wife, (also a Mediator) and his two adult children. He shares a passion for collecting original art from children’s books with his wife. As a competitive athlete, he placed first in the University Of California State Singles Racquetball Championships, third in the National Racquetball Championships and third in the National Senior Paddleball Doubles Championships. He also enjoys spending time on the golf course, both as a player and a photographer for a local golf magazine covering numerous PGA tournaments.
The fee for a day of mediation is $3,200. A full day consists of up to nine hours: one hour allocated to preparation time and eight hours of running time on the day of the mediation. Any additional time on the day of the mediation will be billed to the parties at the rate of $400 per hour. Mr. Susson is generally available for additional time on the day of the mediation.
The fee for a half-day of mediation is $2,000. A half-day consists of five hours: one hour allocated to preparation time and four hours (e.g., 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) for the mediation. Mr. Susson is often available for additional time on the day of the mediation on half-day cases.
On all cases, there is generally no charge for routine preparatory or follow up telephone calls, and there is never a charge for telephone calls or other additional services without the prior consent of the parties.
Fees must be deposited in advance and will not be refunded if the mediation is cancelled or taken off calendar within 14 days of the scheduled date.
There will be an additional charge for PMA's administrative fee.
