Biography

Louise A. LaMothe, Esq., has been recognized as one of California's Top 50 Neutrals by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. She is respected among her colleagues and has served on numerous professional committees at the local, state and national level. She also appears frequently as a teaching arbitrator at the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, held annually in Vienna, Austria.

Ms. LaMothe's broad ADR background separates her from the rest of her peers.  She has mediated or arbitrated hundreds of commercial cases in a wide variety of areas, including domestic and international contracts, securities, real estate, partnership, franchise, entertainment , intellectual property, professional negligence, health care and insurance and transportation, to name a few.

She is a member of many organizations, including: The American Law Institute, College of Commercial Arbitrators and the Southern California Mediation Association.  She has also served on boards including The ABA Section of Litigation, The ABA House of Delegates, The Alliance for Children's Rights, Inner City Law Center, Board of Visitors (Stanford Law School), Board of Governors (Association of Business Trial Lawyers) and the Public Counsel, and is a published writer.  Some of her publications include the comprehensive Thompson/West publication Business Litigation, California Civil Practice (6 vols.), The College of Commercial Arbitrators Guide to Best Practices in Commercial Arbitration (contributing author, 2006), Alternative Dispute Resolution: The Litigator's Handbook (contributing author, ABA Section of Litigation 2000) and Thinking about Mediation (Litigation, Summer 1993).

Ms. LaMothe earned her A.B. from Stanford University in 1968, and her J.D. in 1971.
